Caribbean Fashion Week took place June 6th-10th 2013, CFW has single handily spear headed the Caribbean fashion scene. Although some designs may not appear high-end or high-fashion, CFW has opened up Caribbean fashion and given fashion designers the opportunity to showcase their passion for all things fashion. Each year there is glitz, glamour and spectacular fashion pieces invented by exceptional designers. CFW has been the arena for the public to experience designers, bloggers, models, musicians, and artists from the many varied continents in the hemisphere. This year CFW was held in Jamaica ensuring that there was a plethora of people that made a cameo from many French and Spanish speaking countries, those being; the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Italy, France, Trinidad and Tobago, the Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, Barbados, Bahamas, Haiti, Guyana, Martinique and Nigeria. Once again CFW managed to drive in tourist “traffic” to another Caribbean island infested with travellers (Jamaica), whilst incorporating all things creative to the catwalk.
Not seldom to fashion designers, CFW is very supportive of musicians as well as designers. Unsurprisingly this year was no different, one-third of the all girl group “Destiny’s Child”, Kelly Rowland made her presence known on and off stage on Saturday, June 8. Kelly is not only a true genuine artist but she has also made many style choices that have been both sketchy jet ballsy-a true fashionista. It was first in 2009 that Kelly performed at CFW, and from that it became abundantly clear why she should return year after year. Her fashion and musical sense is symmetrical. Illustrating that fashion is not just for clothing the body it is about an emancipation that comes with time, growth and change.
