Jay-Z has shed some much-needed light on his ‘feud’ with Kanye West. The two rappers – who have one of the most notoriously up-and-down relationships in the music industry – are rumoured to have bad blood between them. This speculation stems from a rant in which Kanye West went on while performing a concert in California in 2016. Kanye raged: “You still ain’t called me. Jay-Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head.” He also went on to mention Jay-Z’s wife Beyoncé and his daughter Blue Ivy.

It turns out that Jay-Z didn’t take too kindly to his family being brought into the issue so publicly. Jay-Z has now claimed that he’s spoken to Kanye about the rant – who in turn realises he ‘crossed the line’. Speaking on the Rap Radar podcast, Jay-Z explained: “What really hurt me was, you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it. Kanye’s my little brother. He’s talked about me 100 times. He made a song called ‘Big Brother’. We’ve gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem with me. That’s a real, real problem. And he knows it’s a problem.”

Jay-Z added: “I know he knows, because we’ve never let this much space go between one of our disagreements, and we’ve had many, because that’s who we are. That’s what I like about him. He’s an honest person, he’s open and he’ll say things and he’s wrong a lot of times and he’ll confront it.”

During the same chat, Jay-Z also opened up about his infamous fight with sister-in-law Solange Knowles following the Met Gala in 2014. Unsurprisingly, he played down the physicality that was caught on camera. Jay-Z said: “We’ve had one disagreement. Before and after, we’ve been cool. That’s my sister. Not my sister-in-law, no, my sister. Period.”

Will Kanye and Jay-Z make up?

It seems that Jay-Z and Kanye are on their way to clearing the air. Sadly, given all that’s happened, it seems unlikely that the pair will ever be as close as they once were.
