Oily skin can look and feel unappealing. Excess oil buildup can clog your pores by trapping bacteria and dirt inside of them and lead to pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads.  While there are a lot of products designed to take care of this problem available on the market, a lot of them contain chemicals which might be considered harmful or irritate your skin.  If you want to reclaim a fresh-feeling, radiant face without resorting to chemical products, give these natural treatments for oily skin a try.

#1 Egg Whites

Egg whites are absolutely amazing for your skin and are great for getting rid of excess oil.  They are filled with Vitamin A which tightens and firms as it dulls away the unwanted shine that comes with oily skin.  Simply separate out one egg white into a small bowl and then whisk it until it becomes a foam.  Apply this directly to your face while avoiding the eye area.  Let the egg white sit on your face for about ten minutes and then wash it off with warm water and a washcloth. Do this up to three times a week to keep your oily skin in check!

#2 Yoghurt

The lactic acid present in yoghurt not only treats oily skin but also kills bacteria as it sits on your face, which helps prevent acne.  Since it is able to eliminate excess oil while simultaneously nourishing your skin and maintaining its softness, yoghurt is a great natural remedy for oily skin.  It is important to make sure you only attempt this method with plain yoghurt, as ingredients present in other varieties can prove very irritating to your skin and might worsen or add to your problems.  To create your own yoghurt mask, evenly apply one tablespoon of plain yoghurt over your entire face.  Let it sit for 15 minutes, and then rinse it off with cold water.  Yep, it really is that easy!

#3 Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is made from fermented apples and contains things like alpha hydroxy acids, which slough off dead skin cells, and malic acid, which is a potent, natural antibacterial.  This vinegar removes extra oil on the surface of your skin and helps balance its pH so you can go longer between treatments.  Start by diluting the apple cider vinegar so that it doesn’t burn your skin.  Usually, a mixture consisting of 50% each of apple cider vinegar and water work well – although you should still dab a little bit on the skin of your wrist to test the strength prior to putting it on your face.  Once you have your mixture perfected, rub it onto your skin using a cotton ball and let it sit for about ten minutes.  Rinse with cold water afterwards and repeat once a week.

#4 Lemon Juice

The Vitamin C and citric acid present in lemons are highly effective at treating oily skin.  These components have antibacterial properties and the latter also exfoliates your skin.  Similarly to the apple cider vinegar, lemons also help restore the natural pH of your skin, which prevents oil formation for longer. All you have to do is mix one teaspoon of water with one teaspoon of lemon juice and then apply to your face with a cotton ball. Again, always check the mixture by testing it on your wrist before you cover your face with it. Rinse the treatment off with warm water after ten minutes and repeat daily if necessary.

#5 Oatmeal and Honey

These two ingredients combine to make a smooth, nourishing facial scrub that will eradicate all that troublesome oil while restoring and softening your skin.  The oats absorb the extra oil while the honey works to kill the bacteria that cause acne in your pores.  Mix one tablespoon of oatmeal with one tablespoon of honey and then gently massage the mixture into your skin for five minutes or so.  When you are done, rinse the scrub off with warm water and pat dry.  This treatment is gentle enough to be used every day if you so desire.

Oily skin is an annoyance that no one wants to live with.  However, it is also true that no one wants to live with any potential problems caused by cleansers which have toxic chemicals in them.  By using these simple, affordable natural treatments, you can get rid of your oily skin and be confident in the safety of the ingredients you choose to put on your face.
