F.A.D (Fashion Awareness Direct) is a registered educational charity that supports young people in bridging the gap between education and the fashion industry. On September 16th September 2014, F.A.D celebrated ten years of Fashion Futures by holding a remarkable fashion event, where 23 talented teen finalists presented their designs on the London Fashion Week catwalk. The stylish event was held in The Vestibule Space at Fashion Scout in the Freemasons’ Hall.
The Awards ceremony saw twenty three finalists present their designs to be judged by the F.A.D panel that consisted of Louise Ibak, designer from George at Asda, Martyn Roberts, Founder and Director at Fashion Scout, Grace Wales Bonner, designer at Wales Bonner and was also the 2008 FAD finalist. Maria Alvarez, Founder & CEO at FAD, Dorota Watson, Head of Fashion at the University of East London and lastly Agi Mdumulla, designer at Agi & Sam were also amongst the judging panel.
The designs were awarded for innovation, colour and embellishment and it is the incredible designs of young and talented Andrea Loaiza Giraldo, which wowed the audience and the panel as she was awarded the winner of the night for her exceptional designs.
The other finalists were very gracious and excited to be given the opportunity to showcase their work to so many people in such a huge venue. The event was sponsored by a number of high profile brands and companies, namely George, Toni & Guy and Dr Martens!
