Successful people are individuals with habits that propelled their life to greater heights with more achievements wherever they go. These habits are the foundation that took them from being average to extraordinary.
Have you ever wondered how some people could manage to do so many things and accomplish a lot, but still look stress-free and worry-free? We all share the same 24 hours in a day, but some people are able to squeeze in so many activities in their schedule and still look relaxed and happy. Apart from working hard and working smart, it’s the habits you practice that will determine your productivity.
Time management and choosing to do the things that will allow you to make the most of your day could take you from being an average performing individual, into a very productive person, and with the right attitude and mind set, with great dedication to achieving your goals, people will be amazed at how well you are at accomplishing great things.
Success comes from practicing the best productive habits that could make an ordinary person into someone extraordinary. Be sure that you have these habits:
1. List Your Priorities
Before going to sleep at night make a list of your top 10 priorities for the next day and allocate a specific amount of time to accomplish it. Write it on your planner. This will serve as the schedule you’ll be following the whole day. Don’t use all of your time in a day for work. Allot two hours every day for you to relax, unwind and just have fun. You need it whether you’re single or married.
Always make time for yourself and add it to you daily priority list. If you’re married and you’d rather spend that time for yourself with your family, then do that. What matters is that every day, you have this time for yourself to feel happy and relaxed.
2. Give Yourself A Break
In order to be productive, you have to take a rest to feel energized once you go back to your work. If you listed your top 10 priorities for the next day, include some 30 minutes break before going to the next task.
Being productive doesn’t mean that you have to work non-stop, it’s organizing your day well and accomplishing tasks with great energy. If you work like a robot, your output decreases and the quality of your work is affected.
Efficiency is doing things right, but how can you do this if you don’t have the energy? Working for long hours without breaks will drain you of your energy to accomplish more tasks, and you’re prone to making more mistakes. Don’t let the quality of your work get affected with stress, give yourself a break.
3. Remove The Things That Limit Your Productivity
If your work slows down because of this wonderful music you’re listening to, then you’d better choose where to focus more on. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying good music while working, but if it somehow distracts you or slows you down then it’s a hindrance to productivity.
If you want to be productive and accomplish a lot within a specific amount of time, it would be better to remove the things that will take away your focus from what is more important. But if this music helps you to feel inspired to work and doesn’t slow you down, then there’s nothing wrong with listening to it while working.
4. Do Not Procrastinate
Procrastination comes in different forms and sometimes you don’t even notice that what you are doing is actually delaying the completion of a task that you need to accomplish.
For example, you want to go to the gym to work out. You want to do this later in the day, but you feel that there are so many things to do, so you decide to just do it tomorrow. If there’s something that you want to do, put it on your priority list and allot sometime for it so that you don’t have to put it away for tomorrow.
The habit of procrastination is what destroys productivity and it pulls you down to being average and ordinary. If you want to be successful and to rise above your colleagues, focus on what you want and stay dedicated to it.
5. Look For An Inspiration
Always look for a reason that will keep you motivated and dedicated to your goal. Why do you want success? It could be to have the money to send your children to college so that they can achieve their dreams and ambitions in life; or you want to have enough money to be your own boss one day, or maybe you wanted to be a well-known author, singer, doctor, and the list is endless.
Every day, look for an inspiration to keep you going. This will keep you in focus and dedicated to always be at your best. This is also the best remedy for procrastination.
When you’re inspired to do things, you do it well and you do not feel the pressure and stress that goes with it. You don’t do things for work, rather you work with a purpose and that purpose brings happiness in your life.
6. Celebrate Your Progress
Reward yourself with every progress you make. It doesn’t have to be a big celebration it could be as simple as treating yourself to a spa or eating your favorite food at a restaurant, or buying your favorite cake or ice cream. Anything that makes you feel good.
The progress that you make is what tells you that you’re one step closer to your goal. Keep a journal and everyday and write down the progress that you made. If it’ as simple as accomplishing your top 10 priorities for the day, then write it down and write how good you feel about it. Celebrate that feeling and think of what you’ll reward yourself with for a job well done.
These habits keep you in focus to achieve your goals. If your goal is to become successful, then you have to do things in a different way and you have to stay dedicated to it.
