James Bergeau was born on October 12th 1980 in Baradères, Haiti. He started to play the classical guitar at 11, and at 18, started developing a passion for improvised styles such as jazz, fusion, blues, rock, gospel, etc. At 22, he met Turgot Théodat, who introduced him to jazz music. The Haitian audience discovered him at the “Nuit Magique de la guitare” organised by Radio Métropole. Since then, he’s taken part in various international festivals in the US, in the Dominican Republic and French Guyana. The Festival is proud to present this young guitarist, James Bergeau.

He learnt music (standard notation and guitar) at the Adventist University in Carrefour and attended various seminars at the National School of Arts. He also has a Bachelor of Law and Economic Sciences at the State University of Haiti, and regularly accompanies the group ‘Badji Thurgot Théodat.’

A 18 ans, il développe une passion pour la musique improvisée (jazz, fusion, blues, rock, gospel etc). A 22 ans, il rencontre Turgot Théodat qui l’introduit à la musique jazz et se fait découvrir à « la nuit magique de la guitare » organisée par Radio Métropole. Il participe à plusieurs festivals internationaux aux Etats-Unis, en République Dominicaine et récemment en Guyane française. James Bergeau est un jeune guitariste que le Festival est fier de présenter.
