It is very pleasing to announce the release of the new Drivin N Cryin CD EP ‘Songs For The Turntable’ on Blank Records!! This fourth, in a series of as-promised four EPs, is now available on CD and for digital download. Five new songs, produced by Paul Ebersold at Nashville’s Sound Kitchen Recording Studios and Memphis’ Ardent Recording Studios.
“Let’s face it, when you think Drivin N Cryin you think explosive, bombastic rock n roll. And you should, that’s their bread and butter. But on their latest EP they strip it all back and lay it all bare to create a soul-stirring slab of cosmic country-rock that stands alongside the best — and loudest — works.”
-Sean Maloney, The Nashville Scene
“Heartfelt = Drivin N Cryin. Great songs = Drivin N Cryin. Inspiring = Drivin N Cryin. Great fucking rock n roll = Drivin N Cryin.”
-Ed Roland – Collective Soul/Ed Roland & The Sweet Tea Project
Drivin’ N’ Cryin’s Songs for the Turntable is the fourth and final EP in the series that began with Songs from the Laundromat in 2012.
As with the former EPs, the venerable southern group prove that they can make any style sound like a Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ original. This EP features a mellower folk rock sound with philosophical lyrics, except for the final song, “Jesus Christ!,” a heavy rock song with lyrics that aren’t about the religious message Jesus taught but about how people distort his words and image for their own purposes.
