A Credential Ceremony to honour the appointment of HE Mr Rafael Ortiz Fábrega as an ambassador of Costa Rica to the UK was held at The Westbury Mayfair, A Luxury Collection Hotel, London on 13th March 2019.
“It is obviously indeed an honour for me and for Laura (wife) to have presented on behalf of our government, the letters of credence to Her Majesty this afternoon. I would like, first of all, to thank all of you for joining us today. I am aware that there are one or two other developments in the United Kingdom today, which you will be following very closely, so definitely I appreciate your presence this afternoon all the more.” HE Mr Rafael Ortiz Fábrega said.
In his speech, HE Ortiz Fábrega, reminded attendees that Costa Rica is a country of peace.
“We are small in size but big in aspirations and accomplishments. 70 years ago, the leader of the Victoria’s Revolution decided to abolish the army, and from there on, we invest our resources in free education, in a public health system that grants coverage to the whole population. We share many values and principles with the United Kingdom, in those areas of human rights, democracy, and our profound commitment to the environment to mitigating the effects of climate change. We definitely look forward to engaging and working together in those important areas.”
The event was attended by Marshall and Vice Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps in the UK, Diplomates, MPs, selected VIP guests.
