Tourism is the pillar of the Seychelles economy and it is not surprising to see the island’s tourism industry join together to claim back their fair share of the French Tourism Market.

Seychelles was this year represented at the IFTM Top Resa Tourism Trade Fair in France by an impressive delegation made up primarily of the private sector. Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture led the Seychelles delegation to IFTM Top Resa and he was accompanied by Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Tourism Board. Also present this year was Rosemarie Hoareau, the Director of Marketing at the Tourism Board.

“We recently held a dialogue meeting with some key French Tour Operators who have flown to Seychelles for a one day meeting. We heard their messages and we understood their challenge. Today we are all in Paris to support all our partners who continue to stand by us to get Seychelles seen, promoted, and kept relevant in this key source market. It is important for me to say thank you to the private sector who have made the effort to be with us at IFTM Top Resa. You believe in the French Market and you are here to say just that. The feed back is good and we are encouraged by forward bookings we are now told are coming in for October and for November. It is us continuing to stand together as we are doing now at IFTM Top Resa that will help us overcome the challenges we are facing” Minister St.Ange said at the trade fair.

When the Minister was questioned by Tour Operators on the question of direct non-stop air access between Paris and the Seychelles he said that Minister Joel Morgan, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Transport had said at the meeting with a delegation of French Tour Operators in Seychelles that this was today being considered and that he was discussing the matter with Air Seychelles.

“The Seychelles Stand at the IFTM Top Resa in Paris was busy and the interest for Seychelles was more evident today that it has ever been” a member of the private sector said in Paris.
