Kilia Llano is a fine artist, muralist, illustrator and art teacher from the Dominican Republic. Since 2012 Kilia has been part of a group of artists creating urban art in the streets of several cities and small communities in the Dominican Republic.
Kilia was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 1972. From the age of 7, she has been inclined towards artistic activity, receiving her first painting classes. In 1990 she entered the Altos de Chavón School of Design where she studied for two years. Later she was awarded a BA in Fine Arts and Illustration at Parsons School Of Design (1994), NY, among others minor studies at Universitat De Barcelona (Art History) and Unibe University (Art Education) in Santo Domingo.
She has participated in several collective art shows and also had five solo shows at Santo Domingo, Barcelona and Miami (Art Basel 2017).
In the Dominican Republic, she has created about 25 murals. She also participated as the international guest artist at the Art festival “Voz de Vida” in the city of Pasto, Colombia, as a resident artist at Graniti Murales in Sicily, Italy. In August 2018 she was among several other urban artists, invited to participate at Beyond Walls Lynn, in Boston, MA. She painted murals at the border of the Dominican Republic and Haiti in collaboration with young artists from communities in need.
