The annual downtown Zydeco Breakfast, a much-anticipated event coinciding with the Original Southwest Louisiana Zydeco Music Festival, once again brought life and celebration to the heart of Opelousas on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, September 2023.

Set under the majestic oak trees encircling the Courthouse Square, this vibrant gathering from 9 am to 11 am offered a unique blend of culture, cuisine, and music, laying down the perfect preamble to the day’s festivities at the Zydeco Music Festival, which made its return to the Yambilee Building.

Local downtown eateries outdid themselves, presenting an eclectic array of breakfast options. Java Square, Back in Time Restaurant, Chicorys at the Palace, and The Brass Rail, among others, served up everything from steaming coffee and delicate pastries to hearty breakfast casseroles and specialty dishes. The variety catered to all tastes, ensuring a delightful start for festivalgoers.
