Ingredients:
- 2-3 cups of sugar
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 can of evaporated milk
- 1 cup of pecans chopped or halves
- 2 to 3 tbs of pure vanilla
- 1/2 bag of meltable chocolate wafers or chips (6 oz)
- 1 cup of cold water
- Parchment paper
Preparation:
- Heat a heavy pot on medium-high and place the butter in first
- Once the butter is almost melted, add all ingredients except the bowl of cold water, the chocolate, & pecans.
- Stir until it boils. Once it boils, add the chocolate and reduce the heat to medium.
- Stir until all chocolate is melted, and add the pecans. Once it thickens (around 40 minutes to ensure it is the right consistency), drop a little bit of the mixture into the cold water bowl. If the drop hardens, it is ready to place on the parchment paper.
- Stir till the pecans are mixed in well and scoop out the mixer onto a cookie sheet with parchment paper over it (an ice cream scooper is good to make sure you get a lot of candy)
- Let it cool until hardened, about 10 min.
